XS Christmas Party
Deck the halls with bells of holly… It’s that time of year again! We’re putting on an XS members and staff Christmas party this year at The Windsor Hotel in South Perth and we’d love to see you there! No RSVP needed, but this event is an 18+ event and the invite is open only to members (excluding partners, friends, and family). It’s a little chance for us all to catch up and share a drink or two
WHEN: Saturday 17th December 5pm – 6:30pm
WHERE: The Windsor Hotel (Garden Bar Tables)
WHAT: XS Members Christmas Party
Body Odour
We get it! Working out in the gym means you will get sweaty, there’s nothing to be ashamed about. It happens to us all. But, let’s all take a few easy steps to help keep XS Fitness one of the cleanest and freshest gyms in Perth. Just one member who forgets to apply deodorant can stink out half the gym, making training unpleasant for other members.
- Bring your own deodorant. Just two short squirts on each armpit is enough, and top up as you wish during the session. If you forget your own, we do provide deodorant, its kept in the pigeon hole storage rack.
- Bring a towel whenever you’re training. Lay the towel down on the piece of equipment you’re using at that point in time.
- After you’ve finished using a piece of equipment, take one of our complimentary hand wipes and wipe down the equipment after you’ve finished. Focus on the handles, seat and foot rest areas.
Gift Cards
Give the gift of health and fitness this Christmas with a gift card to a membership at XS Fitness! Boost that friend or family member that little leg up as we enter the new year with a discounted membership gift card.
Spring Hay Fever
Alas! Winter is over and the sun is shining. But, what’s that? The faint sniffle, the unmistakable cough. Hello Spring, and hello hay fever. We may have said goodbye to the winter cold and flu season, but for some of us, Spring can be just as painful.
Take the day off if necessary, your body will thank you for it, take the necessary antihistamine and train the following day…you won’t go backwards. In fact you might make more progress when resting.
Respect the Equipment - Sharing is Caring
Pushing for a max P.B, or hitting a new record for reps feels amazing! But, what doesn’t feel (or sound) so amazing is the sound of our equipment smashing the ground or being mistreated 🙁 This equipment is here for everyone to use and enjoy, however, we’ve noticed a few people mistreat some equipment, causing increased wear and tear that ultimately leaves the equipment unusable until we can arrange a qualified technician to fix it.
- Use our new deadlift area in the corner of the gym for max deadlifts. This has shock absorbing pads on either side, and is close to the mirror
- If the squat and bench press bar is starting to bow in the middle under the weight, consider asking an XS staff member for a stronger bar
- When using the cable machines, don’t slam the weight back down at the end of each rep. This will also give a little more time-under-tension for your muscle, and reduce fatigue on the cables and tooling
Changed Staffed Hours
Just a reminder fam, that we’ve updated our staffed hours. The new staffed hours are below:
Monday – Friday: 3:30pm – 6:30pm
Saturday: 9am – 12pm (noon)
The gym still remains open 22 hours per day, 7 days a week for members. If you’d like to bring a friend along to train, please only do so in the above staffed hours. This is for health, safety and insurance reasons, we must maintain a record of everyone who is in the gym at any one time, and trial members must have signed our standard paperwork BEFORE commencing.
Our Gym Manager Steps Down
It is with much regret we advise our members that Callum Tuffield will be stepping down as the XS Fitness gym manager. Callum has been with XS Fitness for over 2 ½ years, starting as a junior staff member he quickly demonstrated he had more to offer and has been the gym manager for nearly two years now.
Callum leaves us to pursue a different path in the health and fitness industry, however he’s not going completely. He remains as one of our personal trainers, so you’ll continue to see him around the gym.
We’d like to formally thank Callum for his efforts in making XS what it is today, and we are sad to see him step down.
Happy Training and have a safe and Merry Christmas!
